Failure Type: Usability Issue

Found In Build/Fixed In Build: CF11_Final /

Priority/Frequency: Minor / Some users will encounter

Locale/System: ALL / Win 2008 Server R2 64 bit

Problem Description:

When installing CF11 the second step after the installer in the CFIDE requires you to log in. If you do not have Javascript enabled and try to log in you will receive an error stating your password is incorrect when in fact it may not be, its just that JS is required for the login to work.

Steps to Reproduce:

Disable javascript or attempt to install on a windows server without disabling IE secure profile (which disables javascript), and try to login and you will get an incorrect password error even if you have the correct password

Actual Result:

error about invalid password

Expected Result:

being able to login

Any Workarounds:

enable javascript

The best fix would be working without JS, but otherwise you could at least state that JS is required for it to work.

Javascript has to be enabled. This is not a valid bug.

It is still an issue IMO as the error provided is not descriptive of the problem and there is nothing to tell the user why the form is not working. At the least you should add a noscript block or something to tell the user that javascript is required when they have it turned off.

Hi Rupesh and Chris, I've verified this is fixed in CF11 Update 3 (11,0,03,292024(PreRelease)). CF Admin login page now displays an alert, via noscript tag, if JavaScript is disabled: <noscript>Please enable Javascript to use ColdFusion Administrator.</noscript> This ticket can be marked Closed/Fixed and can be included in CF11 Update 3's list of fixed tickets (it's currently not listed). Thanks!, -Aaron

Please disregard my last comment (on 9:49:39 PM GMT+00:00 Nov 15, 2014). I misunderstood the issue. The <noscript> message already existed in CF11 Final. Issue is the message just doesn't appear the 1st time CF Admin is loaded (during installation). Thanks!, -Aaron
