Failure Type: Non Functioning

Problem Description:

When viewing the Application log in the Windows Event Viewer, any messages having source as 'ColdFusion 11 Application Server' contain text that says:

The description for Event ID 3 from source ColdFusion 11 Application Server cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

ColdFusion 11 Application Server

the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

From what I can tell, the reason for this is because the file for ColdFusion messages as recorded in the registry (C:\ColdFusion11\cfusion\bin\coldfusionsvcmsg.dll) doesn't exist on the server:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\ColdFusion 11 Application Server]

Steps to Reproduce:

Look in the Windows Application event log

Actual Result:

Message as above

Expected Result:

A meaningful error/informational message

Any Workarounds:

This is fixed in CF 2016. It would also be made available in a future CF11 update. Michael, Your diagnosis, the missing DLL, is correct.
