When adding alert settings in the PMT there is no way to test the mail server connection. You have to wait until an alert is generated and see if you get an email or check the log file to view errors. Add the ability to send a test email or otherwise test the mail server connection so the user has confidence that an email will be received when a configured alert occurs.
